The Chandler Center in the historic Monte Vista area is open to anyone in the community who is 55 years of age or older. Participants enjoy recreational and social opportunities including travelogue presentations, guided tours to area events and attractions, cultural enrichment classes, workshops and lectures. Lunches are served daily to members and non-members in a spacious dining room.

The Chandler Center is open to the community for intimate gatherings such as wedding and bridal showers, teas, retirement celebrations, educational workshops – or enjoy a quiet place to read or play bridge.

The Center is located in the original Victorian home of Mr. & Mrs. E. B. Chandler built in 1887. According to the book, San Antonio's Monte Vista, the Chandler House "can truthfully be called one of the show places of Texas." One of the remarkable artistic beauties of this house is that it is decorated with elaborate wood carvings, done by Mrs. Chandler herself.

As visitors come into the entryway, the deep-hued wood-paneled walls and beautiful parquet flooring stand out. On the left, the Stanley Banks Parlor is an intimate sitting room framed with beautiful stained-glass windows. To the right, the screened-in Palm Room is an open and airy room for reading or table games. Numerous upstairs rooms are suitable for meetings and events. The large wrap-around porch is ideal for those beautiful San Antonio days.
