Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

We are happy to share that for the third week in a row, we are reporting zero positive COVID-19 cases amongst residents and staff at our communities.

As a reminder, Texas Health & Human Services has implemented a Phase 1 visitation designation for Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing facilities. The designation requires the following criteria be met for each level of living in order for visitations to occur:

  • No active COVID-19 cases in residents throughout the entire facility.
  • All staff must be COVID-19 free for 14 days.
  • Staff must be tested weekly for COVID-19 (Skilled Nursing staff only).

The requirement that Skilled Nursing staff are to be tested weekly, is unfortunately not currently feasible for our organization. We will continue to search for other testing options and update you as we know more.

Both our San Antonio and Boerne assisted living facilities applied for the Phase 1 visitation designation and we are sad to report that our San Antonio community is not able to obtain a designation at this time, due to a City of San Antonio non-visitation ordinance that was put in place on July 17. We are diligently working with local and state health officials to try and find a resolution. The application response for our Boerne community currently remains pending.

If and when we are able to obtain designation for either of our assisted living facilities, our pending plan remains to implement scheduled Phase 1 visitations, as long as our staff and residents remain COVID-19 free. Visitation with Independent Living residents continues to be designated to outside visits only.

Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective Executive Director or Administrator.
