Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

In this week’s COVID-19 update we are reporting one Skilled Nursing employee and one Independent Living resident at our Meadows community who have tested positive, and three Memory Care residents (all confined to one hallway) at our Menger Springs community who have also tested positive for COVID-19. Please rest assured that part of our ongoing effort to combat this virus and per state requirements, weekly/monthly COVID-19 testing for Skilled Nursing staff continues to be provided.

The positive COVID-19 cases here at our Morningside communities reflects the massive spike of COVID-19 cases in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. We urge you to continue to take every precaution possible; wear a mask, wash your hands often, stay six feet apart from others, and take extra safety measures for those at higher risk – such as the elderly and people with underlying health conditions. It is up to each of us to ensure we’re protecting our loved ones, especially during the holiday weekend. Please consider spending time with your loved ones outside and only engaging with those in your immediate household, because even if someone isn’t exhibiting symptoms, they can still be contagious.

Morningside continues to work within the Texas Health & Human Services Commission visitation guidelines for senior living facilities, to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, please know rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation continues to evolve. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:

  • The Menger Springs community will continue to host visitations in Skilled Nursing and Independent Living buildings. Assisted Living and Memory Care will resume visitations once cleared from state. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
  • The Meadows community will host limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities and Assisted Living has expanded to outdoor visitations & indoor bubble visitations only. Skilled Nursing visitations remains limited to Essential Caregivers or closed window visits. Please contact your respective level of care for more details.

Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. As always, thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.

Sincerely,

Morningside Ministries Staff
