Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

In this week’s COVID-19 update we are reporting three Memory Care residents at our Menger Springs community who have tested positive for COVID-19. We are working with state and local officials to evaluate the vaccine situation and how it will affect both our residents and staff. While we await additional vaccine information, Morningside remains vigilant in putting forth our best efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and staff by implementing the highest possible COVID-19 precautions and protocols. Additionally, as part of our ongoing attempts to combat this virus and per state requirements, weekly/monthly COVID-19 testing for Skilled Nursing staff continues to be provided.

We are diligently following the visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission, to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation continues to evolve. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:

  • The Menger Springs community will continue to host visitations in Independent Living buildings. Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing will resume visitations once cleared from the state. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
  • The Meadows community continues to host limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities. Assisted Living has expanded to Essential Caregivers, as well as outdoor visitations, indoor bubble visitations, and closed window visitations only. Skilled Nursing visitations remain limited to Essential Caregivers or closed window visits. All visitations in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing are by appointment only, especially with the holiday season upon us, please schedule your appointments in advance. For more details, please contact your respective level of care.

San Antonio and the surrounding areas are currently experiencing a massive surge of positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. We urge you to continue wearing a mask, washing your hands often, staying six feet apart from others, and taking extra safety measures for people at higher risk – such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. It is up to each of us to do our best to protect our loved ones, especially during this holiday season. Please try to limit activities outside of your household and when spending time with anybody not in your immediate family; outdoor, socially distanced, masked interactions have proven to be safest – because even if someone isn’t exhibiting symptoms, they can still be contagious.

Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. As always, thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.

Sincerely,

Morningside Ministries Staff
