Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,
Since last week’s COVID-19 update, we are reporting five Skilled Nursing employees at our Meadows community who have tested positive for COVID-19. We are also reporting one Assisted Living employee, one Skilled Nursing employee, one Independent Living employee, and two Independent Living residents at our Menger Springs community who have also tested positive for COVID-19. Though this is not good news, we are happy to report that none of these cases are related and were not spread through our community. Instead, it appears these cases were contracted away from our facilities over the holidays.
We are excited to share that COVID-19 vaccinations continue to be administered at both of our communities, to residents and staff members. Morningside is partnering with CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens to provide vaccinations for residents and staff at both communities in the coming weeks. Vaccine prioritization amongst our residents and staff will be determined by the recommendations of the CDC. We are not currently mandating the vaccine for residents and staff members, though we highly encourage it for the health and safety of all at Morningside.
We continue to abide by visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation evolves. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:
- The Menger Springs community is not hosting visitations in Independent Living at this time. Only Essential Caregivers will be allowed in Independent Living until January 20, 2021. Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing will resume visitations once cleared from the state. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
- The Meadows community is hosting limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities. Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing are limited to closed window and Essential Caregiver visits by appointment only. To schedule your appointments in advance, please contact your administrator.
With a vaccine amongst us, it is tempting to let our guards down, but we must remain steadfast in our efforts to practice COVID-19 safety measures. San Antonio and the surrounding areas are currently experiencing dangerously high COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations. Please continue to wear your masks, wash your hands often, and practice social distancing when possible, it is up to each of us to protect our loved ones.
Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.
