Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases around the country and in the San Antonio area, we have decided to resume our weekly COVID updates, to provide you all with streamlined communication. We are reporting one staff member and one resident at the Assisted Living at the Menger Springs community who are recovering from COVID-19. We are also reporting one Skilled Nursing staff member at the Meadows community who tested positive for COVID-19 As part of our efforts to combat this virus we are once again providing weekly COVID-19 testing at both communities. In addition, N95 masks are being worn by all staff, at all communities and all levels of care. We continue to be vigilant in practicing COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols to maintain the well-being of our residents and staff.

At our Menger community, 98% of residents and 80% of staff are currently vaccinated. 95% of residents and 81% of staff at our Meadows community are currently vaccinated. We continue to work with staff and residents to provide vaccination opportunities at our communities. We are not currently mandating the vaccine for residents and current staff members, though we highly encourage it for the health and safety of all at Morningside; vaccines are required for new employees recently hired.

We continue to abide by visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation evolves. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:

  • All visitors must be screened for COVID-19 and wear a mask while visiting. Unvaccinated visitors must wear a N95 mask in our Independent Living areas, and all visitors must wear a N95 while in our Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing areas. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Directors.

With a vaccine amongst us, it is tempting to let our guards down, but we must remain steadfast in our efforts to practice COVID-19 safety measures. San Antonio and the surrounding areas are experiencing high COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations due to the delta variant. Please continue to wear your masks, wash your hands often, and practice social distancing when possible, it is up to each of us to protect our loved ones.

Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective community director.

Sincerely,

Morningside Ministries Staff
