Development Associate

Job Description:

The purpose of the Music and Memory program at the Cibolo House is to provide cognitively stimulating music therapy to residents with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. A key part of this program is the development and outreach of the program, as a whole. The Development Associate is responsible for assisting the Activities Department in growing the program, gathering resources and raising funds for the program.

Primary duties include:

Reaching out to the community to help gain support for the program, organizing fundraising events for the program, working on creating a positive image for the program as a whole, and working on ways to expand the program to more residents.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to listen well to others.
  • Able to take notes well.
  • Able to communicate effectively with others.
  • Must have empathy for others.
  • Must have a desire to work with seniors.
  • Able to present information effectively.
  • Great organization skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot problems that may arise.
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Able to speak well to groups.

Application Instructions

All potential volunteers are required to fill out a Morningside Ministries volunteer application. We have to conduct criminal background checks on every person who is applying for a volunteer position. If you are planning on volunteering 10 or more hours a week it is required that documentation of a negative TB test be submitted to Morningside Ministries. There is also additional training online which all volunteers are required to complete prior to interacting with the residents.

Discovery Analyst

Job Description:

The purpose of the Music and Memory program at the Cibolo House is to provide cognitively stimulating music therapy to residents with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. A key part of this program is the specific music which we are able to obtain for each resident. It is important for the proper music to be found. The Discovery Analyst is responsible for assisting the activities department in finding appropriate music for each of the residents in the program.

Primary duties include:

Interviewing residents and family members about music preferences, conducting music sampling sessions with the resident, collecting feedback from each of the residents about their music, updating existing playlists, discovering new music to purchase from iTunes, and other duties as assigned by the Activities Department.

Operations Specialist

Job Description:

The purpose of the Music and Memory program at the Cibolo House is to provide cognitively stimulating music therapy to residents with Dementia/Alzheimer’s. A key part of this program is the day to day operation of the equipment used with the residents. The Operations Specialist is responsible for assisting the Activities Department in the use and operation of iPods and logging changes in both emotion and behavior in the residents resulting from the music.

Primary duties include:

Assisting residents with iPod operation, ensuring that equipment is working properly, documenting changes in mood or behavior of residents when they are listening to their music, and other duties as assigned by the Activities Department.
